Finger Lakes Wired Scholarship Program - Funding Available for Employee Training

The United States Department of Labor has made available Federal grant funds to businesses in the nine-county Finger Lakes Region (Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, Wyoming, Monroe, Ontario, Wayne, Seneca and Yates counties) to upgrade the skills of their workforce in order to meet the demands of emerging industries. Emerging Industries are defined as:
Advanced Manufacturing
Alternative Energy
Bio/Life Sciences
Business Services
Engineering, Food & Agriculture
Health Care (including not-for-profit Health Care organizations)
Information Technology
Optics/Imaging
Businesses in these industries are also encouraged to apply for up to $25,000 in training funds to
1) Develop management competencies of mid - senior level Managers
2) Develop technical/occupational skill competencies of their employed workers or
3) Implement process or productivity improvement initiatives (such as Lean, ISO, Six Sigma, Sarbanes Oxley, etc).
Training should be completed within 6 (six) months, and should lead to the acquisition of industry-recognized certifications/credentials, supervisory and managerial skills training, process/productivity improvement, and-or in-demand technical and occupational skills.
Applicants are required to provide matching funds equal to the amount of funds requested. Funds are awarded through a contract process. Reimbursement payments can be made on an incremental basis or after the completion of the training project based on expenditures and supporting documentation.
Applications will be reviewed on a continuous basis and awards made through a contract process until funds are exhausted. Depending on the volume of applications received, the approval process may take up to 2 weeks. Applications should be submitted at least two weeks prior to the beginning of training.

Unique Business Brings the Groomer to the Pet
ITSA Dogs World Mobile Grooming has been opened for under a year and already has plans for growth. This unique business, owned by certified groomer, Lisa Slichta-Negley, brings a fully equipped grooming salon on wheels right to the doorstep of its customers.
According to Mrs. Negley, this type of services sets ITSA Dogs World Mobile Grooming apart from the traditional groomer/salon. “This services provides a convenience to the owner, with no travel for the owner and pet, no stress or anxiety because we stay right on the pets property, no cage drying, and one on one service with each pet,” stated Mrs. Negley. She continued, “This service is provided to help pet owners who are not able to get to the groomers on a regular basis due to busy schedules. This service helps pet owners keep their pets grooming needs in check on a more regular basis - making for a happier pet and healthier coat.”
Currently ITSA Dogs World operates one mobile unit but plans to add another unit this spring so as to create a waiting policy of no more than one day. All grooming is done by owner Lisa Slichta-Negley or her one employee, Sommer Weatherbee. ITSA Dogs World services Wyoming, Genesee and Livingston Counties. Wyoming Ob-Gyn Moves Into New Facility at 121 South Main St. in Warsaw

Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce officials were on hand to help celebrate and welcome Wyoming Ob-Gyn to its new location at 121 South Main St. in Warsaw. Formally located at 408 N. Main St. Dr. Scott Treutlein and his staff officially made the move to 121 South Main on February 4, 2008. Dr. Treutlein sees the move as a great opportunity for him to branch his practice out further.
Owned and operated by Dr. Treutlein, Wyoming Ob-Gyn provides Obstetric and Gynecology services to women in Warsaw. Dr. Treutlein graduated from St. George’s University in Grenada and completed his residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo. A native of Long Island, his family and practice moved to Warsaw, New York in 2004.
The field of Obstetrics and Gynecology was a natural choice for Dr. Treutlein as he enjoys surgery; the continual care & visits with his patients and having the privilege to share in the joyous and special event of birth.
