Leadership Wyoming - Program Outline
March 24 - 25, 2009 - Opening Retreat
By examining your own personality type and learning about the characteristics of other personality types you will begin to understand how and why you relate to others and how this affects your workplace and the community as a whole. As a group, you will begin to take a closer look at Wyoming county and identify issues in the county. The opening retreat will also begin your 10-month journey of team building.
April 22, 2009- Education and Healthcare
School isn’t what it used to be. Explore the different education systems in the county, at all levels, private and public, as well as different learning systems. Examine Wyoming County’s healthcare system as a whole, including public health, the hospital, private sector healthcare and how these all work together. This session will challenge you to understand rural healthcare.
May 27, 2009 - Business & Industry
Visit different types of businesses in the county from Main St. businesses to manufacturers and major corporations and discover how they all shape the economy of a rural county. Learn about the resources available for businesses and discuss the outside factors that affect the day-to-day operations of a business and how different businesses deal with these factors.
June 24, 2009 - Agriculture
Agriculture is the leading industry in Wyoming County. You will visit a number of farms in the country, both large and small. You will also hear form numerous agribusinesses and organization in the county that exist to support and grow agriculture in Wyoming County.
July 22, 2009 - Team Building
Discover how you work as part of a team and how building trust builds teamwork.
August 26, 2009 - Government and Criminal Justice
Go behind the scenes to examine the role of county government and the criminal justice system. Explore individual departments within the county government, what are their roles ad how they all come together in the end to make the county run.
September 23, 2009 - Tourism, Arts, & Culture
Discover all there is to see and do in Wyoming County and examine the importance of the Arts and Culture to a rural county.
October 28, 2009 - Community Resources and Volunteerism
Discover the different community-oriented organizations in the county, what they do, whom they serve, and how they shape the community. Learn how you can become more civically involved and learn of the needs for and possible places to volunteer.
November 18, 2009 - Leadership and Strategic Thinking
Examine how people deal and relate with each other and how different management styles and ways of thinking affect your business and your everyday life.
December 9, 2009- Closing Session and Graduation
Applying what you’ve learned to your everyday life as a leader.
