Mar 16, 2015

Wyoming County Chamber & Tourism is very pleased to welcome Solar Liberty to the organization as a Community Investor. They join a core group of twenty two members who have pledged a substantial commitment to the Chamber & Tourism and its mission to advance economic opportunity in Wyoming County.

"On behalf of the Board of Directors and the membership, I am delighted to welcome this cutting edge company to the Wyoming County Chamber & Tourism membership, said Scott A. Gardner, Chamber President. "This company has a proven record of quality and is committed to improving the economy of Wyoming County. We look forward to working with them and helping them to advance green technologies that will benefit a host of companies, farms, organizations, and homeowners here in our county."

Founded in 2003, Solar Liberty is the largest installer of solar energy systems based in New York State. Our goal is to help educate communities about the benefits of renewable solar energy and maximize available incentives and savings. Solar Liberty has completed the successful installation of over 1,000 solar electric systems for homes, schools, government facilities, businesses and non-profit entities across the State.

Through Brighter Wyoming, Solar Liberty seeks to expand the use of solar electricity within Wyoming County in multiple areas including municipal, agricultural and residential. Solar Liberty looks forward to the opportunity of working with government officials to develop solar arrays that provide significant value to the citizens of Wyoming County. Solar electric systems will reduce County, Town and Village electric rates and provide a clear vision of the long-term energy costs.

Solar Liberty seeks to work with Wyoming County's agricultural industry by assisting local farmers to realize the benefits of solar energy through the state and federal incentives available, including the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). REAP's authority is contained in the Agricultural Act of 2014, which promotes energy efficiency and renewable energy development. The REAP program provides financial assistance through grants and guaranteed loans to incentivize the use of solar electricity for farmers and rural small businesses.

Solar Liberty looks forward to educating the homeowners of Wyoming County on the benefits of residential solar electric systems and the incentives available. Through the NY-Sun initiative and state and federal tax credits, solar energy is affordable to every homeowner and can save thousands of dollars in energy costs over the life of the system. With electric costs rising more than twice the rate of inflation, a solar panel system generates value today and security for tomorrow. When you produce more solar power than your home uses, the solar electricity flows back to the grid, making your meter spin backwards and earning you credits with the utility company.

As the largest solar employer headquartered in New York, our dedicated team shares the common vision of promoting solar energy throughout Wyoming County and the State.
