Director of Business & Visitor Engagement - Wyoming County Chamber & Tourism
- Reports directly to the President and CEO
Role Description:
The Director of Business & Visitor Engagement of the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Promotion Agency is a full-time, on-site position based in Warsaw, NY, responsible for leading and coordinating initiatives that serve local businesses and attract visitors to Wyoming County.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversees business outreach and membership engagement.
- Plans and executes events, workshops, and educational programs.
- Collaborates with local organizations, government entities, and regional partners to advance economic and tourism goals.
- Prepares reports, contributes to budgets, organizes and edits publications.
- Represents the organization at community meetings, events, and regional activities.
- Supervises front desk staff as assigned.
- Connects with business owners and stakeholders, developing and updating membership benefits and communications, while tracking program performance.
Qualifications:
- Experience in business development, membership engagement, or economic development, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse local businesses and community stakeholders.
- Strong skills in event planning and coordination, including workshops, networking events, and community or tourism-related programs.
- Proficiency in marketing and communications, such as community outreach, digital or social media promotion, and creating clear, compelling written materials.
- Demonstrates organizational and project management skills, including setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and public-speaking abilities, with an inclusive, customer-focused approach to service.
- Experience supervising staff, volunteers, or leading cross-functional teams, with a collaborative and supportive leadership style.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, tourism, public administration, communications, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Knowledge of chamber of commerce operations, nonprofit or association management, or regional economy and tourism is highly beneficial.
- Must have a valid NYS driver’s license, reliable transportation and availability on occasional evenings and weekends.

Compensation & Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $60,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package is offered that includes health, dental and vision insurance, Simple IRA plus employer match, and paid time off.
