WYOMING COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & TOURISM HOSTING ADVANCED SOCIAL MEDIA SEMINAR

May 12, 2017

On May 23, 2017 the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a seminar, “Social Media in your Business” designed to help local businesses learn the differences between various social media sites like Yelp, Trip Advisor, how they work and what works best to drive customers. The seminar will be taught by Jessica Seymour and Travis Tingue of MOTIV Digital Media, at the Ag & Business Center in Warsaw.

“We are very pleased to host this very relevant topic and encourage businesses to learn more about their presence on various social media platforms,” said chamber president Scott Gardner. “Customers trust online recommendations and reviews as much as a personal recommendation. Businesses need to be in control, as much as they can, of what customers are seeing and believing about their products or services.”

Social media has become the word-of-mouth of the 21st century, except it is word-of-mouth on steroids. Conversations that were happening 20 years ago are still happening, but they are taking place on the internet. The downside? These conversations can been seen by a lot more people. The upside? They are on a platform that enables business owners to use these conversations to their advantage. The seminar will explore in depth topics including: The benefits of using social media (it's not just about marketing); different social media types and what you need to be on and what you don't; claimed vs unclaimed; reputation management – handling reviews; protecting your brand on social media; making connections on multiple platforms and leveraging them.

"There's a conversation happening and if you aren't a part of it, you are missing out," said Jessica Seymour of MOTIV Digital Media. “71% of customers will use social media in some form or fashion when making a buying decision. Some are using it as a search engine and others are using it as an information source. Whether you have a Facebook page or not, the conversations are happening. Businesses need to be a part of it, or they are missing out.”

The seminar takes places on Tuesday, May 23 from 9:00AM until 11:00AM at Wyoming County the Ag & Business Center, 36 Center Street, Warsaw, NY. Registration is $20.00 for Wyoming County Chamber members and $30.00 for non-members. To register, visit www.wycochamber.org then click on “programs and events” or call the office at 585-786-0307.
